As we look to put together teams to accomplish the overall goals of our agencies, we are often looking for the best and the brightest. Oftentimes, we “hope” the individuals will gel and become a highly functional team. As much as we want this to happen, it typically does not occur without conscious effort. By the time we realize we aren’t functioning as optimally as we should, it becomes difficult to turn around a non-functioning team. This training offers the opportunity to start off on the right foot with a new team or help a current operating team reset by providing insight into the nuances of developing and maintaining an optimally functioning team. As we present, we also utilize assessments (team assessment, work personality, conflict style, etc.) to facilitate individual and team learning.
Participants will complete a conflict assessment; the primary goal is to gain a deeper understanding of the dynamics inherent in the relationship of employees. It identifies techniques employees use to deal with conflict. The assessment, along with proper training, will help employees to confront conflict without confrontation.
Retired Chief of Staff, General Eric Shinseki, stated “If you don't like change, you're going to like irrelevance even less.” Most of us don’t like change, but the reality is that change is constant, and it can be stressful. But it doesn’t have to be. By recognizing the stages of change, how they affect us, and how to continue to work through it, we will find the transitions easier to make as they occur.
According to Gallup, only 30% of you are actively engaged employees. The other 70% are somewhere between “just putting in my time” and actively destroying the work of the productive few. As dismal as it may sound, there are ways to increase the level of engagement in your organization by addressing Gallup’s Q12 Metrics. In this training, you will learn what those metrics are and how to incorporate them with your team in order to bring out the best in your staff.
Ever leave a conversation not sure if you were heard? Or said something that was not interpreted the way you intended? No matter who you are or where you work, having effective communication skills is imperative to your success. This training will explore ways to not only communicate your message, but assure that you are also listening actively.
The most difficult professional transition is the promotion that takes you from being “one of the crew” to being the boss. The changes and challenges of this transition can be managed effectively with the appropriate tools to navigate. Develop new skills or enhance existing skills to help you build positive relationships with your staff and strengthen your credibility as a supervisor.
